Deceuninck has decided to set emission reduction targets as per science-based net-zero of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). However, Deceuninck has joined the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign, which is in line with the Paris Climate Agreement Objective to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

In February 2022, Deceuninck committed to the SBTi targets following the inventory of carbon emissions developed in 2021. Deceuninck has already defined the emission reduction roadmap according to the Net-Zero Standard and is all set to submit the targets for validation to the SBTi.

Around 12% of Deceuninck’s carbon footprint is linked to our own operations’ (scope 1 &2) emissions. It leads to considering & looking at the total value chain and the sourcing of raw materials. Apart from this, recycling will also be important to reach the targets.

Deceuninck has committed to reduce absolute Scope 1 & 2 emissions 60% by 2030. This will require a 75% emission reduction per ton of product produced. That being said, Deceuninck will exceed the minimum ambition of SBTi (- 42%).
